I’m Alireza Habibzadeh (in Persian: علیرضا حبیب زاده), an electrical engineering PhD student at USC and a research assistant with Professor Maryam Shanechi in the Neural Systems Engineering & Information Processing Lab. We develop machine learning and dynamical systems methods for modeling and decoding brain activity, and we’re currently building a foundation model trained on iEEG neural recordings.

Outside the lab, I enjoy movies, video games, swimming, photography, and coding. You can find my movie ratings on IMDb and my game collection on Notion. I volunteer with the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, Science Olympiad, and USC’s student mentoring program. I also edited Persian Wikipedia for years, but I retired from that journey because AI does a better job than me.
